Biography: Obituary

On the morning of April 2, 2020 our beloved Benjamin C. Mays left a void in our hearts as he passed away.

Benjamin Charles Mays was born on May 18, 1981 in New York City with a twin sister, to the late Benjamin Mays and Paulette Bryant.

Benjamin accepted Christ into his life at a young age. He was educated in the New York City Public School System. He attended P.S. 36, I.S. 174 and graduated from Herbert H. Lehman High School.

Benjamin held several jobs working at Albert Einstein Hospital. He had many accomplishments het set out to achieve. He was a mandated reporter, he had a certificate in CPR and was studying for his fire safety license.

Benjamin’s most recent employer was with The Westech Security and Investigation Inc. He was a security guard who worked with senior citizens. Benjamin enjoyed working.

Benjamin, affectionately known as “Biggs”, was loved by many. He was truly a family man and he kept in touch with everyone and checked on everyone. He loved to help people and never said no. He was the family childcare provider, house sitter, he picked up the children from school; anything you needed Benjamin for, he would do it if he could. He also loved food.

He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Mays and brother Brandon Mays.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories: mother Paulette Bryant of New York City; sisters: Shinikwa Lawrence (Derrick) of Texas, Mekki (Eric) of New York City and Diamond of Alabama; aunts: Barbra of Florida, Marjorie James of Tennessee, Sheila Miller of New Jersey, Melody and Stephanie Rumph of New York City; uncles: Earl Mays, Herman Mays, Curtis Rumph, Sr. and Craig Martin, Sr. all of New York City; nephews: Derrick and Taylor Lawrence of Oklahoma and Champ and Ree of New York City; one niece, Amanda Lawrence of Colorado; four brothers: Julius, Brandon, Desmond and Anthony; two special moms, Maria Johnson and Nancy Fuzesi; and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Thank you all for loving my son.
